Sir,

We have the respect to beg leave to represent to your Excellency, that about an hour before our attention was required, in Court on the 21st instant, we were summoned to the Police Court upon a charge preferred by Mr Mitchell, the Postmaster General, to the effect as quoted below:

"That on the 19th instant at Victoria, the Defendants did behave in a riotous, noisy and disorderly manner, on Des Voeux Road. And further that they did then and there do damage to the building at the New General Post Office."

With exception of the charge of a very trifling injury to the imperfect window-slide, we acknowledge at the time, which happened quite accidentally, and by one of us slightly, in lapping against it in order to attain Mail despatches, a considerable time having elapsed beyond the first named hour for delivery.
